The discussion started when one of our members, Denise, sent The Covern a very good warning message about watching your credit card companies now, as they were increasing rates all over the place to keep ahead of the legal restrictions on increases set to unroll later this year. That message appears at the very bottom of this post. Her message then encouraged responses which, when read bottom to top, convey some very pertinent information for anyone with a credit card debt.
In particular, look at the message from Kathy Herron, a friend who writes expertly about how to live without credit! In her message was the link to Ann Minch's movement just born this fall! It is incredible to see and read about it. What is shows us is that we CAN make a difference, and that we DO have power -- much more power than we think! So if you are in a position to fight this fight, I hope you will join us. -Sharon & The Coven

No. Not at all. To each his own. Not everyone of us has walked the same path. I was more greedy than you, I bet. More impatient perhaps. Not as well mated?? Not equally classed?? Worked very hard and wanted what I thought would come to me in the way of the return on my investment. Problem was, I was ignorant about how the world of banks worked - I actually believed they were honest -- maybe they were at some point. . . I always KNEW the stock brokers were tainted -- they were smart enough to gain no matter who won or lost. And they got greedy. I knew THAT was screwed up.
Maybe I didn't know the playing field well enough. Do now. So I'm here. You're there. We each have work to do. So let's do it. No judgment on another. We are not fit to judge. Or to control what we believe is ours to control. So I try not to do either. I just live. And try to learn. And survive. And if I'm lucky, I'll have a little left over to help others survive, too. First my family. Then others who are in need. That is where I am today. Believe me, today it IS about survival. That's why I am renamed "The WatchKeep" and not "Great Financial Seer," or "Economist Extraordinare," or "BestCreditScore.com," etc.
Don't ask me how I got here. I don't know! I am just HERE! With all of you who are just THERE. Is there some better man-made life's design I missed along the way? Maybe. Maybe not. Don't care. I know where I am now at least. I'll rebuild from there. Only this time, my boat is pointed towards the Truth and the Light. I'm willing to follow that to see where it leads me. It is a choice only we acting alone can make. I have made it. I am resolved to the notion that we each have a purpose in God's plan. So I'm not about comparing or competing in this earthly realm. Just about loving and living. I think it's my age -- Estes' "dangerous old woman." I embrace it and will follow where it leads me. Even if I don't know where. Or with whom I'll go. It doesn't matter now. I am heading towards a new phase -- that of spending eternity applying the holy lessons learned here on earth to whatever comes next. xox, Sharon
I use one credit card...get frequent flyer miles...have used for free flights over the years, saved tons of money...and pay my balance off every month...interest rates are a moot point when you use them that way...I am a loser?

I knew I liked you for many reasons, Kathy, but your being a Revolutionary never entered my mind! We are Sisters of the same ilk. I have waged my own war with the banks for a couple of years now. I enjoy it. I don't use credit either. Every wo/man has his or her masters. I won't let the bankers be mine. They are too well organized and they CHEAT BIG TIME. I am ever more sure I had to have the experiences I did in order to find out how to live your way. I was no less stupid than all the other Americans reading this here. Difference is, I got off the speeding train to their Hell. They don't know what to make of me when they threaten to ruin my credit, and I say, "Go 4 it. You guys' days are NUMBERED! So you'd best go back and try to figure out what kind of work you'll need to do once the corrupt and corroded credit systems are smashed, too, by the TEA party folks." Their silence is deafening. I say it calmly. No emotion. Imagine yourself as Spock on Star Trek. Anger is righteous. Controlled, quiet anger is menacing and awesome if you can master the technique of using it. I find it's a block to greater violence and turmoil because it is SO unexpected a reaction. How does one counter non-emotion? Think about it. Below my email, Kathy recommends we watch Rockerchic4God's video. Well, it's not able to be viewed for SOME mystserious reason. But she did give her new website address: www.debtorsrevoldnow.com where she promises a tax revolt to go alongside her debtor's revolt. This video link I've provided here in the next paragraph IS viewable, and it gives you some feel as to what this woman's about. It's also got titilating details about Bank of America's response to her. Don't miss this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNHd-GBZGQo&feature=related Rockerchic4God is the video producer - mysteriously, her video that started it all was unable to be viewed AND her subscribe button didn't WORK! Message to Bank of America: I've decided to it's time to take a stand against the banksters' usury and greed! If our founding fathers were willing to sacrifice their LIVES for our FREEDOM, then I can certainly sacrifice my credit score and be willing to be sued. I'm staging a DEBTOR'S REVOLT!

- Hi Sharon,
- I have not had a credit card other than an ATM for 13 years now. I live in a nice house (yes, I got a mortgage without having any credit and being a single mother) rent cars, stay in nice hotels, buy airline tickets have beautiful appliances and somehow manage to take care of sending my son to college (I do have a student loan for him), I have all the things that most people don't think they can have without credit.
- I don't care what my credit score is. To me, it's all an illusion...a game created by banks to make you think you are valuable or not without it. I have had some run-in's with past creditors (from way back when I was married 13 years ago) when they claimed I owed money (I didn't). They threated to ruin my credit. So, I let them. Ha! I also had one creditor send my account to collection and then sold it to a debt buyer. They claimed I owed a ton of money (I didn't) added a whole bunch of fees (interest) and then tried to get money from me. I wrote a cease and disist letter and hired a consumer law attorney to sue them. They folded and removed everything from my credit report and left me alone. It was a lot of work to do this but worth it.. There are so many people unemployed and struggling and loosing their homes and cars etc. Everyone is going to have glitches/problems with the current system they way it's set up. Something must change.
- It takes courage and persistence and a change in attitude to make real change. The way I live is not for everyone. Having credit is good if it works for you. Tell your friend to hang in there and let people help her that have had some experience with this. Check out this YouTube video: It will show her that others are fed up too. It's called Debtors revolt.

- Take care, Hope your having a good day,

- I have a simple solution. Dump ALL of them, stop paying them (if they call, tell them "it was a business decision" on the part of your personal account manager), and tell them their rake of a credit scoring/rating system can go suck eggs -- for you don't care. That's what I call a real surefire way to break the banks. We have the power. Do we have the will and power inside ourselves enough to USE it? OH! And when the whole thing comes crashing down anyhow, don't say I didn't warn you. :O -Sharon

- Keep a close watch on your credit card vendors. My interest rate on one card trebled and I called VISA for an explanation. The CSR said it was a business decision but couldnt give me any details. I asked who could give me an explanation and she said she would transfer me to my banks CSR. The bank CSR said the government made them do it and it applied to all credit cards everywhere. I documented the whole adventure and sent it to Senator Kay Hagan and asked for an explanation. If this is true, then the Senate Banking committee consisting of:

Personally, my new voting policy is to vote against any sitting president, senator, or congressmen regardless of party. Diapers and elected officials should be changed frequently for the same reasons.
