Even Jim Kuntsler doesn't get this bold when he talks about Peak Oil Theory and the repercussions of decreasing oil supply across the world. It is odd that Celente dates his predicted collapse around the same time as Nostradamus, among others, predicted it would occur. The found manuscript during early 2008, purported to be penned by Nostradamus' son, dates this final collapse at Dec. 21, 2012. Just days before Christmas. Interesting the Celente describes the malaise in terms of the following:
> Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped > nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, > squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that > holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.
Whatever your beliefs, thoughts, musings about what's going on in the nation and world right now, this writing will give you pause. Thanks, Peter, for sending it along. I will put it out on the web to see if it draws any response. I doubt it will. The denial about the gutting of America and the American middle class by Wall Street is intractable, right up to and through the federal government and beyond. Keep your powder dry, folks. And now is a good time to learn to pray, whatever your faith.

[edit] Criticism of economists
Celente has criticized the Consumer Price Index because it does not integrate statistics for food and fuel.[10] He accuses the Federal Reserve of "jive talk" about interest rates, claiming that they are in a "rate trap" where lowering interest rates crashes the dollar and raising them crashes the economy.[10] He claims the Fed is "highly responsible" for the economic crisis of 2008 for "bailing out their buddies with cheap money."[10] He also believes that the general populace has more awareness of the crisis than Wall Street, the media, and the political world.[10]
In case your day has been going too smoothly.
