On my quest for knowing how to live more serenely, genuinely, and creatively, I find these tidbits dropped into my inbox. As I hone in on what it is I need to learn or know to be able to craft this life, I bring the nugget to the fore and think on it for awhile. This Alan Alda quote from Ren Unity has such a nugget. I've read this before, several inbox drops ago, but only now realize the wisdom in the words: " . . . and by not quite knowing what you're doing . . ."
It feels uncomfortable, the "not quite knowing what you are doing" acknowledgement. Then I realize God put that in us for an important purpose - to help us cultivate trust in our Creator.
There is ALWAYS the stuff we cannot control. I know some would say "not so," but I would challenge anyone of us to try to find something in our personal experience that defies control. How do you deal with that? What is your emotion as you struggle with it? Where do you seek your help and relief? For some, it is in their addictions, made addictive, I believe, by their refusal to let go of their comfort in their dilemma and give it over to God for its resolution. [What other explanation could there be for the astounding success of all the 12 Step programs today?] We keep thrashing with it because we think we can "fix it," or turn it our way, or continue the behavior and just modify it to suit our perceived needs. No time to fix it right, you know.
When I studied about God as a kid, I learned that S/He does not force us to do anything - there is always the choice to keep doing what we are doing (insanity), or take the step, in trust, of giving it over to Jesus. Of accepting His help, paid for on Calvary with His very human godly life.
When I could no longer associate myself with the "dark places" in my family's life, I actively, knowingly, and deliberately surrendered my stubborn problems to the Lord. In a single prayer, a weary, worn out woman, delivered it all over to her Creator.
And as I make the journey back to finding my true self, lost in the dark turmoil of daily mortal living, I turn to Jesus for help and care. Not just any help and care, but rather help and care from those around us whose life or teachings demonstrate most aptly The Way, The Truth, and The Light. Today, I share with you some of that Light that will assist you with your continuing education about your holy self. The postings found at this link are amazing help for the weary. Don't postpone your relief.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and not in your own understanding." Proverbs 3:6.

Saturday, June 20, 2009 – Living Creatively
|
|
“Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can't get there by bus, only by hard work, risking, and by not quite knowing what you're doing. What you'll discover will be wonderful: yourself. “ ~Alan Alda

Today's Meditation
|
|
Dear God,
Intentionally, I release the distractions and noise of the outer world. In quiet, I turn my attention inward and consciously enter Into Your presence. Intuition and creativity flow like a stream from this deep reservoir. I do not understand what will come next but I have learned that it is always more of me. Thank You. Amen
