"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn." ~Alvin Toffler
The collection of articles in this section are designed to give Americans another perspective on ages old issues of politics, warfare, monetary exchange, liberty, patriotism, corporate identity, religion -- any topic that has the capacity to create change in the way we live our lives.
Time compression and systems life cycles make it imperative that every citizen reserve a little time each day for meditation and reflection on the conditions that govern our happiness, worker satisfaction, freedom to think and be, and opportunities made available through our great national bounty. We have a tendency to live in the present moment, where we fall into "unapologetic apathy" as regards our status. What we have today is in no way guaranteed to our children and grandchildren tomorrow. That is why I am concerned.
To throw off apathy and become involved in the collective thinking of a great nation of people requires preparation and relearning. It is the primary requirement for a people living in a democracy. If we become too complacent, we risk losing exactly those attributes a free people hold dear: freedom to think, act, be, work, and worship as we choose.
In an age where partisanship has broken and nearly destroyed a once working political and governing process, we need to suppress our tendency to not care and to believe we cannot make a difference and instead, find ways TO make a difference. After all, it is a single raindrop that starts the run of the waters to the rivers and oceans on our planet. Don't forget it.
